Smart Charging Researcher (Student Project)

Job description

In order to accelerate the adoption of electric buses and trucks on a global scale, we need to map the benefits that go hand in hand with electric transport.

Besides climate goals, a big incentive for operators are the costs savings associated with the electric fleets. The challenge, or opportunity if you will, is how to charge all vehicles efficiently and at lowest costs. Each country has different regulations and cost structures in the energy sector and therefore the savings can vary heavily between countries.

Your job

We are looking for a graduate student to support us with mapping out the relevant use cases for smart charging in different European countries.  You will go through existing research as well as do your own research in order to understand how energy markets in different countries work, specifically the cost structure. Then you will need to link this to smart charging use cases and strategies to most effectively charge electric vehicles.

The extent to which operators can save costs depends on their operation, country, energy contracts and provider. And the challenge lies in quantifying them for each use case. It is up to you to work out most relevant use cases – and potentially even model ones we have not even considered.

💡 This could be a great opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with some of the newest and most interesting concepts of clean tech, a field that is currently growing at a staggering rate.

Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor´s degree in a STEM discipline, preferably Mathematics or Physics
  • Available for 2-3 days a week for a period of 3 months (max. 20 hours per week)
  • Keen on figuring out things on your own and to dive deep into a topic
  • Able to gather data independently and be ready to jump on a call with an energy provider
  • Excited to come work within a fast-growing international scale-up company
  • Eager to learn about smart charging, clean energy, electric vehicles. We’ll help as well.
  • Keywords: analytical, pro-active, independent, communicative
